Our name is born from the concepts of devotion and blessing that form the core of our work. The Arabic word “Al Baraka” means “Blessing”, and we believe that every good deed built on love and trust becomes blessed by the will of Allah. The word “Volunteers” in our name reflects that we are a large family working entirely voluntarily — on the basis of love, responsibility and trust — without seeking any material gain or profit. We have united on this path to earn the pleasure of Allah.
Our logo is built upon the hadith of our Prophet ﷺ: “The best of people are those most beneficial to people.” Each symbol in our logo expresses the foundation of this path of good: The “Drop” symbolizes every donation and every act of support you entrust to us. The “Tree” is the fruit of our lasting projects that come alive, grow and take root for the future through those drop-by-drop trusts. The “Shield” is a moral protection that takes orphans and the poor under its care; we build this shield together — you help orphaned children and poor families through your kindness, and we deliver the entrusted donations directly and transparently to those truly in need.
Our work is not aimed merely at meeting people’s physical needs. Our main mission is to bring hope to the lives of people living in the world’s hardest and most forgotten regions, to deliver aid to the right place, and to do so on the basis of our faith’s principles of trust (amanah), transparency and mercy. From the very first day we have approached every project not as ordinary aid, but as a moral responsibility entrusted to us by Allah. The harsh life stories we have witnessed over the years and the sorrowful gazes of helpless children and orphans have made us more attentive, more responsible and more determined on this path.
When delivering aid, we do not work through any intermediary foreign company or outside organization; instead we work directly with our local volunteer friends and members who share the same goal with us in various countries around the world. Thanks to this global volunteer network, we reach deep inside every region and connect directly with the local population — meaning we work shoulder to shoulder with Africans in Africa, and with our local Arab volunteers in Gaza and Yemen. In this way we both strengthen the trust our donors place in us and fully guarantee that not a single penny of the donations is diverted to extra commissions or administrative costs, reaching those in need directly and in full.
We do not limit our projects to any single country or border; our goal is to reach every region where there is a need for aid and humanity. Currently our work mainly covers regional points where humanitarian crises, poverty and drought are at their peak. Within this scope we actively carry out projects in the drought-stricken poor countries of Africa, in the remote regions of Asia, as well as in conflict zones such as Gaza and Yemen that are in great need of urgent humanitarian aid. Through our local representatives on the ground, we deliver aid all the way to the hardest-to-reach tent camps and remote villages.
“Al Baraka Azerbaijan Volunteers” has a broad spectrum of activity covering material, spiritual and lasting infrastructure projects. Our main areas of activity include the construction of water wells in arid regions and mobile water supply by tankers in places where drilling a well is impossible. Within our spiritual and educational projects we build mosques and madrasas and distribute copies of the Holy Qur’an to students in need. Alongside these, urgent humanitarian aid in crisis and war zones, distribution of hot meals, delivery of food parcels, the sacrifice of animals during Eid al-Adha and — throughout the year — the sacrifice of Sadaqah, Aqiqah and gratitude (shukr) offerings for those in need are among our core activities.
Every one of our projects directly meets people’s most fundamental needs — survival, health and spirituality. Our water projects serve to prevent infectious diseases caused by contaminated water sources and remove the need for children and women to walk kilometres every day to carry water. Alongside this, our projects contribute to expanding children’s educational opportunities and improving families’ daily living conditions. Our food and emergency aid help families living on the edge of starvation, victims of war and orphans to survive in the most critical moments.
The process of drilling water wells begins with identifying the regions where the need is most critical (mainly the arid regions of Africa and Asia). The work is carried out based on our local representatives’ field research and underground water maps, after which drilling begins. Once the well is completed, the quality and cleanliness of the water and whether it is safe for long-term human consumption are tested. Only after it is confirmed to be completely safe is the well handed over for use by the local population, with a plaque bearing the donor’s name placed on it.
The average service life of a water well varies depending on the geographical structure of the region where it is drilled, the richness of the underground water sources and, most importantly, the quality of the materials used in its construction. Under normal conditions, a water well built by professional engineers with quality materials has an average service life of 10–15 years. As “Al Baraka Azerbaijan Volunteers”, we also keep the regular technical inspection of the wells under control through our local representatives on the ground, so that this period lasts even longer and our donors’ ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) serves people for many years.
The main purpose of these projects is to provide their own personal copies of the Qur’an to thousands of children and young people who wish to read and learn our Holy Book in the poor regions of Africa and Asia, especially in remote village madrasas. In these regions, due to severe poverty and the shortage of paper and books, children are forced to write verses of the Qur’an on wooden boards called “Lawh”, memorize them, then erase and rewrite them. Our Qur’an distribution project removes exactly this hardship, unites each child with their own personal Qur’an, and earns endless rewards for the donor with every letter read.
This is the stage where we are most careful. Before every project, needy families are thoroughly researched, applications are strictly verified, and all information is confirmed through our local representatives working directly on the ground. We do not base our decisions solely on the incoming application; whenever possible, our local representatives and partners assess the situation of those in need on site, verify the collected information and ensure the aid reaches people who are truly in need. Our aim is to deliver aid to the most oppressed and most needy people in the world and to fully honour the great trust our donors place in us, without betraying the trust even by an atom’s weight.
Transparency is the foundational pillar of “Al Baraka Azerbaijan Volunteers”. We know and understand very well the responsibility of every donation given to us and that there is an accounting in the Hereafter. That is why special photo and video reports are prepared on site for every project. Once a project is completed, these materials are edited by our media team and regularly shared openly with everyone on our official social media accounts (Instagram, Telegram, etc.). We provide fully open, honest information about which project the donations are directed to, how it was carried out, the name plaques and the real results achieved.
