What is Laylat al-Qadr?
Laylat al-Qadr is the sacred night that occurs in the last ten nights of Ramadan and is better than a thousand months. Its merit is mentioned in the Qur'an in a dedicated surah.
Verses from Surah Al-Qadr
«Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.»
(Qur'an, Surah Al-Qadr, verses 1-5)
From these verses we learn that worship, supplication and charity on Laylat al-Qadr are more rewarding than 1000 months (about 83 years).
